Πίσω λοιπόν στο μακρινό 1991, ο τραγουδιστής του Thriller είχε ξεχωρίσει το show και λέγεται πως ήθελε διακαώς να κάνει μια εμφάνιση σε αυτό. Λέγεται μάλιστα πως ήταν μεγάλος φαν του Μπαρτ, του γιου της οικογενείας.Το ''Do The Bartman'' είναι ένα τραγούδι από το άλμπουμ των Simpsons του 1990, The Simpsons Sing the Blues .Γράφτηκε από τον Αμερικανό καλλιτέχνη καταγραφής Bryan Loren και κυκλοφόρησε ως single στις 20 Νοεμβρίου 1990.Επιπλέον, έφθασε τα Top 10 στο Βέλγιο, τη Δανία, τη Φινλανδία, την Ισπανία, τη Σουηδία και τις Κάτω Χώρες και έγινε χρυσό στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.Οι ηχογραφήσεις ξεκίνησαν το Σεπτέμβριο και αρκετά κομμάτια είχαν ήδη ηχογραφηθεί όταν ο Michael Jackson φέρεται να πήρε από το πουθενά τηλέφωνο τον δημιουργό των Simpsons, Matt Groening, για να ρωτήσει αν θα μπορούσε να συνεισφέρει μ’ ένα τραγούδι. Ο Τζάκσον είχε εμφανιστεί στο επεισόδιο Stark Raving Dad (3η χρονιά, 1991) με το ψευδώνυμο Τζων Τζέι Σμιθ (John Jay Smith).Επίσης έγραψε ένα τραγούδι για αυτό το επεισόδιο, ονόματι Happy Birthday Lisa, το οποίο αργότερα συμπεριλήφθηκε στο Songs in the Key of Springfield. Επίσης αναφέρθηκε ότι ο Τζάκσον εκτέλεσε background φωνητικά στο Do the Bartman.Οι περισσότερες κριτικές του τραγουδιού ήταν θετικές.Οι Simpsons δεν προβάλλοντα πια στην ελληνική τηλεόραση, αλλά στην Αμερική εξακολουθούν να υφίστανται. Παρόλο που έχουν περάσει 30 χρόνια από την πρώτη τους εμφάνιση, οι Simpsons παραμένουν όπως ήταν το 1989.Το βίντεο του «Do The Bartman» προβλήθηκε για πρώτη φορά στις 6 Δεκεμβρίου του 1990 μετά από ένα επεισόδιο της σειράς Simpsons και στη συνέχεια παιζόταν συχνά στο αμερικανικό MTV. ο βίντεο ήταν υποψήφιο στα MTV Video Music Awards του 1991, στην κατηγορία Best Special Effects.
